Aims of the CHED Merit Scholarship Program
The target of the CHED Merit Scholarship Program 2024 is to bring education closer to Filipinos. As a government-funded scholarship, its core goal is to support academically talented students, especially those who belong to the following special groups:
- Underprivileged and homeless citizens (RA 7279);
- Persons with Disability (RA 7277); and
- Solo parents and/or their dependents (RA 8371).
This scholarship is open for incoming freshmen who want to pursue their undergraduate studies in any CHED-recognized priority programs in private higher education institutions (HEIs) or State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs).
A qualified student may be awarded a full or partial scholarship under the State Scholarship and Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA). Eligibility Criteria for CHED Merit Scholarship Program 2024
- Filipino Citizen;
- Interested incoming first-year college students that fulfill the General Weighted Average (GWA) requirements of 93%-95% for Half Scholarship and 96% and above for Full Scholarship.
- Not be a recipient of any government-funded financial assistance program;
- Qualified applicants with privately funded scholarship grants covering only tuition fees, he/she must pass the entry-level requirement of the private higher education institution;
- Must have a combined annual gross income of parents not to exceed Php400,000.00
- Student-applicants belonging to the special group of persons such as the underprivileged and Homeless Citizens under Republic Act (RA) No. 7279, Persons with Disability (PWDs) under RA No. 7277 as amended, Solo Parents and/or their Dependents under RA 8371, shall submit certifications and/or Identification Cards (IDs) issued by the appropriate offices or agencies.
- Avail of only one government-funded financial assistance program.
In highly exceptional cases where income exceeds Php400,000.00, an applicant must present a written certification of medical findings of illness of a family member, or school certifications of two or more dependents enrolled in college
Income Requirement for CHED UNIFAST Merit Scholarship Program 2024
Interested applicants are to consider submitting any of the following:
- Latest ITR of parents or guardian if employed (For the Year 2023);
- Certificate of Tax Exemption from the BIR of the Year 2023;
- Certificate of Indigence from their Barangay;
- Certificate/Case Study from DSWD;
- Latest copy of contract or proof of income for children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and seafarers;

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
This scholarship program shall cover tuition and other school fees (TOSF), a stipend that shall be released directly to the scholars or through HEIs, and a book connectivity allowance per semester of a given academic year until the completion of the degree program.
Note that the stipend that is released into the scholar’s account is not monitored by any means. It is completely under the control of the student to use the money judiciously for their own good.
