JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Colleges of Education 2025/2026
JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Colleges of Education 2025/2026: Are you an aspirant of any college of education in Nigeria? Do you want to know the minimum JAMB cut-off mark that you need to score to be eligible for admission? If yes, then this blog post is for you.
In this post, I will explain what the JAMB cut-off mark is, how it is determined, and what the approved cut-off mark for colleges of education is for the 2025/2026 academic session. I will also answer some frequently asked questions that you may have about the JAMB cut-off mark and the admission process.
What is the JAMB Cut-Off Mark?
JAMB cut-off mark is the minimum score that a candidate must obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be considered for admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria.
The UTME is a computer-based test that is conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) every year for candidates who wish to pursue undergraduate programs in various universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.
The UTME consists of four subjects that are relevant to the candidate’s chosen course of study. The subjects are English Language (compulsory) and three other subjects from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, Literature in English, etc.
The UTME is scored out of 400 marks, with each subject carrying 100 marks. The total score of a candidate is the sum of the scores obtained in the four subjects.
How is the JAMB Cut-Off Mark Determined?
JAMB cut-off mark is determined by several factors, such as:
- The performance of candidates in the UTME. The higher the average score of candidates, the higher the cut-off mark.
- The availability of admission spaces in each institution. The more the admission spaces, the lower the cut-off mark.
- The competitiveness of each course. The more the demand for a course, the higher the cut-off mark.
- The policy meeting on admissions. This is a meeting where JAMB and stakeholders in the education sector (such as vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, etc.) agree on the minimum cut-off mark for each category of institutions (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education) and each course.
What is the Approved JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Colleges of Education 2025/2026?
According to the policy meeting on admissions that was held on June 16, 2025, the minimum cut-off mark for colleges of education for the 2025/2026 academic session is 100.
This means that candidates who scored 100 and above in the UTME are eligible to apply for admission into any college of education in Nigeria.
However, this does not guarantee automatic admission, as each college of education may have its specific cut-off mark and other requirements (such as post-UTME screening, O’level results, etc.) that candidates must meet before being offered admission.
Therefore, candidates are advised to check the cut-off mark and admission requirements of their preferred college of education before applying.

FAQs
Can I gain admission into a college of education with less than 100 in JAMB?
No, you cannot. The minimum JAMB score for admission into any college of education in Nigeria is 100. If you scored less than 100, you may consider upgrading your JAMB score or applying for another programme.
Can I change my course or institution after scoring 100 in JAMB?
Yes, you can. JAMB allows candidates to change their course or institution after the UTME through its change of course/institution portal. However, this can only be done once and within a specified period. You should also ensure that your new course or institution matches your UTME subject combination and cut-off mark.
How can I check my admission status after scoring 100 in JAMB?
You can check your admission status through the JAMB CAPS portal or your preferred college of education portal. You will need your JAMB registration number and password to access these portals. You should also accept or reject your admission offer on the JAMB CAPS portal once it is available.
Conclusion
JAMB cut-off mark is an important factor that determines the eligibility of candidates for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. For colleges of education, the approved cut-off mark for the 2025/2026 academic session is 100. However, candidates must also meet other criteria set by their chosen college of education before being admitted.
